Most custom orthotics last 1–5 years, depending on your activity level, body weight, shoe wear, and the materials used. Children and rapidly growing teens may need replacement sooner.

Usually yes. Many custom orthotics fit into athletic shoes, walking shoes, work shoes, and some boots. If you frequently wear dress shoes, we can often prescribe a slimmer orthotic designed specifically for those shoes.

Yes. We recommend wearing your orthotics for 1–2 hours the first day, then gradually increasing wear time over the next week. Mild muscle fatigue is normal as your body adapts, but significant pain should be evaluated.

Some children do. Orthotics may be recommended for painful flat feet, gait abnormalities, excessive pronation, certain sports injuries, or other conditions identified during a podiatric evaluation. Not every child with flat feet requires orthotics, making an examination important.
